Gandhinagar district contains Four taluka: Gandhinagar, Dehgaam, Kalol, Maansa.
District primary education committee has 599 schools. Among which 155 are in Gandhinagar, 224 in Dehgaam, 119 in Kalol and 101 in Maansa. To maintain primary schools, develop the span of primary schools, provide education of 1st to 7th standard level to maximum children to achieve 100% education rate, strengthen the primary education, try to provide education to all the children of the district of age group 6 to 14. Make Gandhinagar district the firs district having a 100% education rate.
Works, duties and powers of district primary education committee has been decided as per Bombay primary education regulations 1947 and Bombay primary education regulations 1949. To select a district education committee from elected members of district panchayat is mandatory for every district panchayat under Gujarat panchayat regulation 1993 section 145. Tenure the committee will be five years or up to the existence of the district panchayat. Gandhinagar District panchayat has came to existence since 1976. head of district education committee will be district primary education officer.
